Huckleberry Hound(s)

My partner and I own two adorable basset hounds, Bailey and Ally. Ally is the more recent addition to our family.

Both dogs came to live with us through our current landlord who breeds bassets on the side. As a part of their buyer/seller contract, potential owners can “return” their bassets should a situation arise which would prevent the owner from caring for the dog, etc;. This prevents these wonderfully charismatic dogs from ending up at the pound and allows the landlord to look for new owners. It just so happens that both Bailey and Ally are two of those returns. Personally, I can’t comprehend how a dog owner could ever part with these adorable, affectionate dogs. When Bailey came to live with us she was 3 months old, while Ally was 2.

Living at our current residence has led several members of my family to convert their love for labs into a love for bassets. If you’d like to own a dog and haven’t been able to select a breed, I’d highly recommend the basset. They’re personable, friendly, social, and oh so huggable.
